Job Description:

The job role of our Warehouse Forklift Handlers requires comprehensive knowledge and proficiency in handling robust industrial machinery. We offer a fantastic opportunity for you to apply your skills and help Publix Distribution maintain an efficient, secure, and well-organized product movement process while handling goods in the warehouses.

The efficient and precise movement of cases and pallets inside the warehouse is done by Warehouse Forklift Handlers who operate powered industrial equipment.

The transfer of goods from the receiving area to reserves is carried out by designated personnel.

Furthermore, the Warehouse Forklift Handlers must be able to work with state-of-the-art equipment, including forklifts and other heavy machinery. They should have a strong understanding of equipment maintenance and be able to identify and report any equipment malfunctions.

Additional Information

In the Department of Boxed Meat/Dairy Warehouse, employees are subjected to temperatures that can last for an extended time and fluctuate between 28 to 35°F.

The temperatures in the Produce Warehouse can oscillate between 35° to 55° Fahrenheit and require working in a damp atmosphere for extended periods of time.

The Frozen Food Warehouse is exposed to a consistent temperature range of anywhere between zero to 20 degrees below zero for an extended period.

Successful applicants for the return center position must possess the capability to work in a range of weather conditions over an extended period.

The nature of fleet maintenance necessitates the capability to work for long periods in different weather conditions.

Other Compensation Information

• A starting pay of $1.00 to $2.00 above the minimum pay range is available based on experience or relevant competencies
• Associates who are scheduled to work between midnight and 3:00 AM as part of their regular shifts are entitled to a night differential of $.75 per hour, unless their shifts begin at 3:00 AM or end at midnight.
• An additional pay of $.50 per hour, referred to as the freezer differential, is given to employees who are consistently tasked to work in the Frozen Food freezer area.
• During the weekend, associates will receive a weekend differential of $2.00 per hour for the time worked within the period of 12:00 a.m. Saturday and 11:59 p.m. Sunday.

Year End Bonus

In gratitude for the contributions made by associates throughout the year, Publix presents a bonus during November to celebrate the season.

After one year of consistent work, a bonus payment amounting to 15 hours of compensation is awarded, and following two years of continuous employment, the bonus increases to a rate of one week's payment but it is subject to the staff member's employment status up until the date of bonus payment.

From now onwards, the bonus will consist of a sum equal to the salary of two weeks.

Required Qualifications

• be at least 18 years old
• ability to work nights
• ability to work weekends, holidays, and extended periods of time
• successfully complete a Work Attitude Survey
• obtain certification in pallet truck and forklift operations (on or before his or her start date in the position)
• ability to lift a minimum of 67 pounds (85 pounds in Boxed Meat/Dairy Warehouse)
• ability to sit or stand for long periods of time
• ability to bend, stoop, and twist
• ability to operate a pallet truck or forklift without any part of his or her body exposed outside of the operator compartment
• ability to stack product of varying weights
• ability to work under strict time requirements
• ability to read, write, and identify and verify numbers
• ability to interpret, understand, and follow instructions.
